The First Amendment and You- 2018.

Here is the text of the First Amendment to the Constitution. It is the most comprehensive of all the amendments in our Bill of Rights and has been among those most challenged in the courts. It's origins relate directly to our experiences under repressive British rule during the Road to Revolution years 1763-1775, and is meant to prevent many of the grievances listed against the British in the Declaration of Independence from ever being repeated under an American government.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
